Worked on it myself re-glazing all windows, painting, and doing prep and demolition work.  Re-landscaped the property.  Hired and supervised specialized workers for various jobs.  Worked side-by-side with the professionals in all jobs.

Field Interviewer, 2002-present, University of Michigan

Worked on the National Survey of Family Growth.  Currently working on Monitoring the Future.  Recruit and interview members of the public, work with school administrators to arrange a 45-50 min. survey and then administer it. Travel in these capacities.  Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy in these capacities.  Highly independent position.  In the last 5 years I have never met my supervisor face to face!

Artist’s Estate Administrator, 2003-present, Pancoastal

Inventory and database the lifetime artwork of a popular watercolor artist. Reconstruct the artist’s web site and market it. Created invoicing system and write invoices as needed.  Design annual desk calendar, scan and archive digital images of artwork, and correspond with customers.

Sole Proprietor, 1997-present, Plantaholics Garden Design and Consultation

Fully draft original garden designs. Instruct clients on landscaping residential spaces.  Provide analysis of problem sites.  Research and develop plant lists for different sites.  Find, purchase, and sometimes grow specific plants for designs.

Personal Advertisement Approver, 1997-99, Radiodate

Listened to pre-recorded personal classified ads for appropriate content and edited or deleted inappropriate information. This independent work required making hundreds of calls per day, 7 day a week.

Veterinary Technician, 1994-97, Oregon Zoo

Assisted the veterinarian in all phases of veterinary care of zoo animals. This included surgical assisting, performing anesthesiology, radiography, diagnostic and laboratory testing, and record keeping.  Managed the zoo animal hospital, its employees, and volunteers.  Ordered and stocked all veterinary supplies including a wide array of human and animal medications.  Answered phones and questions from the public.  Organized the hospital, including the dispensary.  Dispensed medications and treated animals. Planned and implemented OSHA required safety program. 

Supervisor, Department of Animal Care, 1992-1994 Oregon Health Sciences University, Department of Animal Care, Portland, Oregon: Supervised a staff of 6-8 animal care technicians in the daily care of a 37-room multi-species research animal facility. Provided technical service, information, and resolution of problems to researchers and staff.  I interviewed, hired, and evaluated staff.  Kept records of personnel activities, animal treatments, and billing.  Assisted with on-site and off-site training of research animal technicians. 

 Technician Training Coordinator, 1990-1992 Washington University School of Medicine, Division of Comparative Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri:  Developed and implemented orientation, safety, and continuing education programs for over 200 Comparative Medicine staff and research technicians.  Assisted individuals citywide in preparing for the National American Association for Laboratory Animal Science certification exams.  Designed, coordinated, and taught hands-on technical procedure "wet" labs.

Animal Technician Supervisor III, 1984-1990, Animal Tech. II, 1983 to 1984. Animal Tech. I, 1982 to 1983.  Florida State University, Laboratory Animal Resources, Tallahassee, Florida: Exercised considerable independence and discretionary judgment in planning and delegating work to nine Laboratory Animal Technicians.  Established work procedures and workflows.  I was responsible for staff training.  The group provided care for 30 species housed in eight satellites totaling 25,000 net square feet.  Heavily involved in the design of a new facility.

 Clerk IV, 1980-1981, Dade County Florida 11th Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office: Developed data collection methods for evaluating workloads for legislative budgeting committees.  Implemented a manual auditing system for 2,000-felony files/month.  I also performed special projects for the State Attorney as requested.
